With the Thanksgiving holiday fast approaching, I’ve been thinking a lot about gratitude.  I think that gratitude is a pretty powerful thing, something we need more of in our world.  Something my kids are desperately in need of!

Last year, a friend of mine created a “Thanks” – giving turkey for her family.  At the beginning of November, the turkey was featherless.  In order to give him his beautiful tail feathers, her family members had to write down things they were grateful for.  This is such a fun gratitude activity for kids!

Look how many feathers they had!  That’s a lot of gratitude!  It actually filled an entire wall – pretty imressive.

So, as I was thinking about gratitude, and remembering how my friend encouraged her family to be thankful, I decided to see if I could create something similar with my Cricut.  Because, why cut things out when a machine can do it for you?

“Thanks” – Giving Turkey Gratitude Activity Supplies:

Seriously . . . that’s it.  This is a very “supply friendly” craft.

As far as crafting goes, this one really is pretty straightforward.  The fun part begins after you get your turkey put together.  Each feather should represent something you are grateful for.  See how many things you can come up with!

Turkey Gratitude Activity Guide

Step 1:

Click here to access my Design Space file for this project.  As is, it’s set to cut the turkey to be about eleven inches tall.  If you want to resize it, go for it, but make sure you resize everything, feathers included.  As soon as you’re ready, hit “Make It” and follow the directions in Design Space.

Step 2:

After everything has been cut out, sort out all the feathers and set them aside.  With what’s left, put together the body of your turkey and hang him up.  Now all you need are some feathers!

Step 3:

Remember, each feather represents something you, or other members of your family, are grateful for.  This is an awesome way to get your kids focused on gratitude!  Plus, it makes a cute holiday decoration.  Win-win!  Ready for your own family gratitude activity?
